Fishing Infographics and Reference Cards

Original diagrams that explain tackle, watercraft, presentation and responsible fishing.

Use these diagrams beside the full tutorials. Open an SVG at full size to inspect labels or print it. The diagrams explain concepts; they are not maps, forecasts or measured equipment tests.

Rod power and action

Three illustrative bend profiles show action. A separate scale explains power as the force needed to flex a rod.
Qualitative rod comparison; no measured load or universal rating equivalence is implied.

Structure and cover

A lake cross-section distinguishes a bottom rise and depth change from aquatic plants and submerged wood.
Illustrative lake section. Structure and cover can occur together; neither proves fish are present.

Read a current seam

Top view of faster flow beside slower water downstream of a rock. A dashed line marks an illustrative current seam.
Schematic flow lanes; actual currents are three-dimensional and change with water level.

Control the presentation

Four cards ask the angler to check depth, control speed, observe feedback, then make one adjustment.
Original editorial observation worksheet. It does not quantify catch probability.

Keep the return route in view

A hypothetical shore has two dry areas separated by a channel. Rising water blocks the route behind the fishing position.
Original cut-off illustration based on RNLI guidance; not a tide forecast, map or permission to access a location.

The fly-line system

Diagram of a fly reel connected to backing, fly line, tapered leader, tippet and fly. Lengths and diameters are exaggerated for clarity.
Line-system schematic, not a knot tutorial. Lengths and thicknesses are not recommendations.

Manage fly-line drag

Two top-view panels show a downstream fly-line belly and an upstream repositioning of line for the particular illustrated current pattern.
Conceptual line shapes. Mend direction depends on relative current speeds and the intended presentation.

Repeat a feeder presentation

A top-view casting lane runs from the bank through a target circle to a distant visual reference. Side notes identify direction, distance and loaded feeder weight.
Illustrative accuracy plan; no fixed distance, feed quantity or clipped-line fighting instruction is implied.

What sonar can show

Traditional sonar has a conceptual expanding cone. A separate scrolling echo display shows older returns left of the newest return column.
Generic traditional-sonar diagram. Scanning and live sonar use different beam shapes and displays; read the device manual.

Read depth contours

Four nested hypothetical depth contours at two, four, six and eight metres form a basin. Notes explain equal depth, contour spacing and limits.
Invented teaching map with uniform two-metre contours. It does not represent any fishing location.

Learn from a fishing session

Four-stage observation worksheet: ask a question, record baseline, change one variable and compare cautiously.
Original editorial learning framework, not a controlled scientific experiment or validated forecasting method.

Keep invasive species from travelling

Four practical steps identify equipment cleaning, retained-water drainage, drying to local requirements, and proper disposal of bait and organisms.
General prevention checklist. Use the responsible authority’s specific decontamination requirements.
