Where to Fish

Find official access information and learn what to check before choosing a water.

Choose a water using official fishery information, then check permission, access and the rules for the exact place. A water appearing on a map does not establish a right to fish.

Verified waters

Start with an official source

  • US: use your state fish and wildlife agency’s fishing access or public waters directory.
  • England and Wales: check the relevant official licence information, then ask the fishery owner about permission and day tickets.
  • Scotland and Northern Ireland: use the nation’s authorities and the relevant owner or permit provider.

Before travelling

  1. Check the current official page and any closure notices.
  2. Ask about parking, toilets, bankside footing and the accessibility details you need.
  3. Confirm bait and method restrictions; do not assume nearby waters have identical rules.
  4. Plan an alternative if the bank, weather or water level is unsuitable.
